From Sept 2024 – Feb 2025, the Women’s Team reached out to 47 Indigenous-led and allied organizations and met with eight. Although eight may sound small, every door opened with honesty is sacred and meant to be. This included a meeting with the BC Aboriginal Network on Disability Society, Ending Violence Association of BC, The Moose Hide Campaign, The Firelight Group and the Minister’s Advisory Council on Indigenous Women.
These connections reminded us that trust is earned, that building relationships starts with listening, and open communication and transparency amplifies impact as we walk together with shared values as many have been consulted before with little to show. That is why we continue to honor the First Nations Principles of OCAP: ownership, control, access and possession.
