On October 23–25, 2024, the BCFNJC Women’s Team attended the BC Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH) Annual Training Forum (ATF) and hosted a workshop centered on the Indigenous Women’s Justice Plan: Final Draft.
The workshop included a presentation to over 30 participants to share and uphold the theme of ‘Strength and Solidarity: Weaving communities and generations,’ with topics ranging from solutions and approaches to support women, children and youth in a variety of capacities including transitional housing, second and third stage housing, safe homes, and long-term housing, to prevention, education and advocacy.
The team shared some of the work within the IWJP that spoke directly to why the group was gathered at the forum, to set the foundation for the workshop and how the groups could work together to create shared approaches to supporting Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ People.
Participants broke into groups and round table discussions were had on aligned themes within the IWJP.
